EDIBLE OIL PROCESSING
Processing of oil from plants or seeds needs high expertise and knowledge along with advanced technology. To process the oil from the source, a detailed and systematic oil processing process is carried out.
The process includes a number of procedures from seed cleaning, dehulling, cracking, heating, expelling, filtering to refining. Cleaning of the seeds can be done with seed cleaners. These machines are designed to remove any kind of metal, stone, rot seeds and other impurities or extraneous materials before dehulling.
The stripped seeds then pressed to ensure more surface area. For crushing the seeds, mechanized grooved rollers and hammer mills crush can be used for ensuring proper material consistency. After this, the seeds are heated for the extraction of the oil. The heated seeds are fed constantly into a screw press that enhances the pressure gradually as they pass through a slotted barrel.
When the initial oil is recovered from the screw press, the remaining oil cake in the press is also processed using solvent extraction. Volatile hydrocarbon is commonly used to dissolve the oil out of oil cake that is recovered by distillation method. Different machines are used for solvent percolation through the matter that is occasionally dumped and replaced.
Around ninety percent solvent in the extracted oil evaporates that can be collected for reuse. The rest solvent is retrieved using stripping column. The oil is boiled and the lighter hexane rises upward that is collected after condensing.
Next, the oil is refined to eliminate odor, color and bitterness. This refining process includes heating the oil up to 188 degrees Fahrenheit and mixing sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate. The soap formed from undesirable fatty acids and additive is removed by centrifuge. After this process, the oil is washed further to eliminate the traces of soap and dried.
Oil is also degummed now by treating with water heated up to 206 degrees Fahrenheit with acid. The gums that precipitate out are removed by centrifuge. Then, it is bleached by filtering using fuller's earth, and activated carbon to soak up some pigmented material. At last, the oil is deodorized by passing the team over the hot oil between 440 and 485 degrees Fahrenheit in a vacuum. This process allows the volatile odor and taste to distill.
Every above process is done employing respective machines to ensure maximum production of high quality edible oil. In order to execute all the activities from seed treatment, extraction, filtration to refining efficiently with utmost precision, use of apt oil milling equipment and machine is quite essential. With user-friendly, durable and cost-effective oil milling machines, high quality and pure oil can be easily processed and refined. These machines are available in different sizes, designs and capacities as per the needs.
